Description

The Lady Eve (Paramount, 1941). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
Romance and screwball comedy collide in this Preston Sturges classic, which follows a sly con artist and the bumbling, but rich, man she intends to fleece. Barbara Stanwyck and Henry Fonda demonstrate that their talents extend to comedy as well as drama. Their dynamic performances bring a whirlwind of jokes and gags to life, engaging audiences with infectious energy. Adapted from the short story "Two Bad Hats" by Monckton Hoffe (who earned a Best Writing Oscar nomination), Sturges' film strikes a perfect balance between sharp satire and expertly timed slapstick. Fans of classic comedy won't want to miss out on this popular poster, which has been professionally repaired to address light edge and fold wear, slight fold separations, minor tears, and pin and staple holes. No longer visible are a few small chips, including two in the left side of the apple, and the borders have been airbrushed. The poster's colors are as vibrant as they were in 1941, and it would make a lovely addition to any collection. Property from a Distinguished Collection.
