The Gay Bride (MGM, 1934) & No More Orchids (Columbia, 1932). Lobby Cards (2) (11" X 14"). One of the top stars of the 1930s, Carole Lombard made her screen debut at the age of twelve in A Perfect Crime (1921). Four years later she was awarded a contract with Fox, and began her climb to stardom, soon making a successful transition to sound films. Renowned for her comedic roles in films like Twentieth Century (1934), My Man Godfrey (1936), and Nothing Sacred (1937), Lombard also made headlines in her personal life, both for her marriage to William Powell and her affair with, and subsequent marriage to, Clark Gable. She was killed in a plane crash in 1942, on her way to participate in a war bond rally. Offered here are two lobby cards featuring this luminous star. The card from The Gay Bride has pinholes in the corners, a vertical tear in the top right border that extends into Chester Morris's head, a small tear in the right border, and corner bends in the top and bottom left. The No More Orchids card has five enlarged pinholes with staining in both the top and bottom borders, light staining in the left border, a single pinhole with staining in the center of the card, and a small corner bend in the top left. These are wonderful cards from a relatively early period in Lombard's career, that will make terrific additions to any collection. Very Good/Fine.
