    Description

The Electric House (First National, 1922). Lobby Card (11" X 14").
When one looks at this fun lobby card featuring slapstick genius Buster Keaton, it's easy to believe this film took two attempts to complete due to on-set injury. During the first filming in 1921, Keaton got his shoe stuck in the staircase/escalator and broke his foot. He was in a cast for seven weeks, and ceased filming for over a year. The high jinks recommenced in 1922, with the actor playing a young botany student who was mistakenly awarded an electrical engineering diploma on graduation day. He's hired by the college dean to rewire his home, and the young lad bungles his way through with hilarious results-- the aforementioned staircase is wired to work like an escalator, a Murphy bed puts itself away, and a toy train delivers meals. This very rare lobby is one of several from the film offered in this auction, and collectors shouldn't miss a chance to acquire these fantastic pieces. Light handling includes a smudge in the right border, a bottom left corner bend, and pinholes in the borders. Very Fine.
