    Description

The Baker's Wife (Les Films Marcel Pagnol, 1938). French Grande (46" X 62"). French Title: La Femme du Boulanger.
For this rural romantic drama, French writer/director Marcel Pagnol adapted Jean Giono's novel specifically for the immensely talented Raimu. He plays a baker recently relocated to the region of Provence, who's joined by his lovely wife Ginette LeClerc. When she runs off with one of his customers (Charles Moulin), Raimu falls into despair, neglecting his work and leaving the villagers breadless. So desperate is the situation, the townsfolk set off to locate the estranged wife. This country-of-origin poster has all of the charm of the film, and is making its Heritage debut. There is fold wear/separations, crossfold separations, pinholes in the borders, small paper loss at the top vertical fold in the border, and creasing. Folded, Fine+.
