Description

Tassels in the Air (Columbia, 1938). One Sheet (27" X 41"). From the Leonard and Alice Maltin Collection.
In another eye-gouging, hair-ripping and slap-happy short from the crazed trio, The Three Stooges, the boys decide to impersonate interior decorators and get the job done in their inimitable style. As usual, the boys decide to leave their mark on the wealthy (literally) as they glue socialites to chairs and spoil the ladies bridge club. This one sheet depicts one of the short's hilarious moments as Curly (who's driven to insanity at the site of tassels) is calmed by his brothers by being stroked on the chin. This particular short was given an extra shot of comedy from the classic comedian turned director Charley Chase. Chase was one of the most prolific and enduring stars of the silent era and continued to make films during the 1930s. One sheets for the Stooges short subjects are among the rarest and most sought after within the hobby and the constant demand has pushed the value to record levels. Posters from their 1930s films are even harder to find, which makes this offering a unique opportunity. This is the first time Heritage has been able to present a one sheet on this title. The poster has pinholes in the corners, borders and a few within the background. There is wear to the fold lines with a small bit of paper loss at each of the crossfolds and a small bit of conservation tape supporting the vertical fold on the verso. From the Leonard and Alice Maltin Collection. Very Fine-.
