Description
Sunny Side Up (Fox, 1929). One Sheet (28" X 41").Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell made over a dozen romantic comedies together, and this musical was their first talkie. Gaynor and Marjorie White portray working girl roommates in New York, while Farrell plays a wealthy playboy. He uses Gaynor to make his flirtatious fiancée jealous, but then actually falls for the singing cutie. Acclaimed songwriters Buddy DeSylva (who would go on to found Capitol Records), Lew Brown, and Ray Henderson composed several catchy songs for this early musical that would retain popularity well into the '50s. "I'm a Dreamer, Aren't We All" was famously referenced by the Marx Brothers in Animal Crackers and later covered by Jonathan Coltrane, while "Turn on the Heat" and "Sunny Side U" would be used as the theme songs to several television programs. Sold for the first time at Heritage, this bright stone litho poster has had professional restoration to address pinholes in the borders, and chips and tears in the borders and folds. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
