    Description

Sherlock Jr. (Metro Pictures, 1924). Lobby Card (11" X 14").
Buster Keaton is a cinema projectionist who longs to be a famous detective, like Sherlock Holmes. The object of his desire is Kathryn McGuire, and his nemesis is played by Ward Crane. Known for his dedication to his art form, Keaton worked with a billiards expert for four months to learn all the trick shots that Sherlock Jr. performs during the pool game. It still took him five days to film all of the trick shots, and the best of them were cut together to make it look like Sherlock Jr. was playing one continuous game of pool. A further testament to Keaton's commitment to his craft, the actor badly fractured his neck performing a stunt during a scene at a train station. A comedic genius and consummate innovator, the actor-director inspired generations of filmmakers to follow. The lobby card offered is the only paper Heritage has auctioned from this great film, and for Keaton fans, it's a piece that was worth the wait. The card has been restored to address pinholes in the left and right border, and a vertical fold. There was airbrush work done to the borders and verso fold mark. Fine+.
