DescriptionMr. Deeds Goes to Town (Columbia, 1936). Folded, Very Fine/Near Mint. Swedish One Sheet (27.5" X 39.5"). Eric Rohman Artwork.
One of Frank Capra's most beloved films, Mr. Deeds Goes to Town stars Gary Cooper and Jean Arthur, both featured on this beautiful Swedish one sheet. Gary Cooper as Longfellow Deeds, inherits a fortune and has to contend with big city hucksters and opportunists. Jean Arthur, a local newspaperwoman, tries to seize the opportunity to get the big story by playing the damsel in distress. Jean Arthur stated on many occasions that Cooper was her favorite actor to work with, and it certainly shows in this classic. Nominated for four Academy Awards, the picture won Best Director for Capra (his second win). A lavish production, it remains a popular vehicle with fans and collectors alike. Other than a slight mis-centered fold line and some wrinkling at the right edge of the fold, this poster is completely unused.
Estimate: $800 - $1,600.
