Description

Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (Columbia, 1936). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27.25" X 41") Style B.
One of Frank Capra's most cherished and beloved films, Mr. Deeds Goes to Town tells the heartfelt story of Longfellow Deeds (Gary Cooper), a humble man from Vermont who unexpectedly inherits a fortune and must navigate the complications that follow. Co-starring Jean Arthur, who often cited Cooper as her favorite actor to work with, the film showcases a warm and genuine chemistry that enhances its enduring charm. A lavish production nominated for five Academy Awards, it earned Capra the Oscar for Best Director and remains a favorite among fans and collectors for its timeless appeal and production quality. This is the rare and highly sought-after Style B one sheet, featuring beautiful portraits of Cooper and Arthur prominently displayed in a stunning design. Paper from this title has long been exceptionally scarce and incredibly desirable, with devoted fans of Capra and Cooper eagerly competing for the few examples that surface. Heritage has only had the pleasure of offering this one sheet a couple of times previously, and we are delighted to welcome it back to auction. Subtly restored, light touchup has addressed a few flaws including fold wear and a paper lift above Jean Arthur's credit. Other signs of age, such as pinholes, smudges/scuffs, minor creases, and a few small tears, remain visible.
