    Description

Love Before Breakfast (Universal, 1936). One Sheet (27" X 41").
The glamorous, yet tragic life of Carole Lombard made her all the more intriguing and beloved to her legions of fans. A car accident in 1926 left the up and coming star's face badly scarred, prompting Fox to cancel her contract. After extensive plastic surgery she managed to find work with Mack Sennett, turning out 13 two-reelers in 18 months. Full-length features at Pathe and Paramount soon followed, making her one of Hollywood's biggest draws. Even better fortune followed, as Lombard made the successful transition from silent to sound films, aided by her sultry, silky voice. In the classic comedy Love Before Breakfast Lombard, as Park Avenue beauty Kay Colby, is pursued by both oil company owner Scott Miller (Preston Foster) and her fiance, who is also Miller's employee, Bill Wadsworth (Cesar Romero). Miller tries to interfere with the couple by having Wadsworth transferred to Japan, but will love conquer all in the end? Based on Spinster Dinner, a Faith Baldwin novel, this film is known for featuring some of the most incredible photography of Lombard ever captured on film. Sadly, after achieving such tremendous success, Lombard prematurely died at the age of 34 in a plane crash following a World War II war bond drive. Offered here is fine tribute to the iconic star, an incredible stone litho one sheet that is exceptionally rare and features one of the best-known images of this beloved star ever released. The poster displays well after restoration addressed edge wear, chips in the borders and near the center fold, 1" of the top border has been replaced, and touch-up has been applied to fold wear and cross fold separation with slight paper loss. This beauty is sure to turn heads in any collection! Fine+ on Linen.
