International House (Paramount, 1933). Midget Window Card (8" X 14").
It may have been inspired by MGM's Grand Hotel, but International House went in the opposite direction by setting itself up as the zaniest comedy ever made, certainly rivaling the craziness of the Marx Brothers comedies that were also being made on the Paramount lot. In this opus, Doctor Wong (Edmund Breese) is attempting to get bids for his new invention, the radioscope (TV) by having anyone interested come to the International House Hotel in Wu-Wu, China. Among the crazies that show up are Burns and Allen, Bela Lugosi, Peggy Joyce Hopkins and many more stars that were currently on the Paramount roster. Performers on the new invention included Rudy Vallee, and Cab Calloway, doing an incredible rendition of "Reefer Man." The craziest of them all, of course, was W.C. Fields who flew in from Juarez on his Auto-Gyro airplane. The film is completely over the top and doesn't make a lot of sense, but that's the fun of it. Posters of any kind for this comedy are virtually unknown to exist. This midget window card is the only example in this size to ever surface. The only thing keeping it from grading higher is some very slight rounding of the corners. Near Mint.
