    Description

His First Flame (Pathé, 1927). One Sheet (27" X 41").
Silent film comedian Harry Langdon was known for his generous supply of sad smiles and wide-eyed effects, which he displays on this very rare stone litho one sheet as he hoists heroine Natalie Kingston. Frank Capra started his career writing for the Mack Sennett studio and some of his most successful work was with Langdon, Sennett's comedic player. Capra wrote this forty-eight minute feature and it was one of Langdon's standout comedies. The two developed a unique character of an innocent man-child who found himself in dramatic and hazardous circumstances with only providence and good luck making him come out on top. This character resonated with the public and Langdon enjoyed a streak of artistic and commercial successes. Signs of handling include some edge wear with small chips, and a tear in the bottom border that extends slightly into the background. This poster is a very rare printer's proof that was never folded, and the two "pinholes" in the top border are actually peg holes that proofs were hung from for inspection. The interior is well intact with remarkable color. Rolled, Very Fine-.
