Description

Duck Soup (Paramount, 1933). Half Sheet (22" X 28") Style B. Groucho Marx as Rufus T. Firefly is named the dictator of Freedonia who promptly goes to war with his neighbor, Sylvania. Pinky and Chicolini (Harpo and Chico respectively) provide the excuse for espionage in Freedonia's time of war. This is without a doubt, the Marx Brothers at their best with all of their absurd antics on full display. This is the only known copy still in existance of this Style B half sheet that we are aware of. The fabulous cartoon graphics of the brothers makes this the more desirable of the two styles. The poster has been paper backed. It had two tears in the right border that extend into the artwork by a couple of inches. There are two creases in the artwork which have been flattened out. There was minor paper loss in the left border and the top and bottom border have had about 1/4" replaced in the white border only. With expert restoration the poster appears in wonderful shape with strong colors. This may be your only chance to buy this rare poster from what is considered by many to be the Marx Brothers' best film. Fine- on Paper.
