    Description

Chase Me Charlie (Essanay, 1918). One Sheet (28" X 42").
This film was first released in England in 1917 as a seven-reeler and was shown to British troops at the war front. It is a sensational compilation of many Essanay-Chaplin outtakes from The Tramp, By the Sea, The Bank, Shanghaied, A Night Out, In the Park, The Champion, The Woman, and His New Job. This release was unauthorized by Chaplin, as he split with Essaney just prior. The film also features Edna "Sugar-Plum" Purviance, Leo White and Ben Turpin. This U.S. stone litho one sheet is the first large poster Heritage has presented and the first one to surface, that we are aware of, in modern times. Chaplin draws his leading lady Purviance closer with the aid of his signature cane in this beautifully drawn image. The excellent color saturation adds even more value to this never before offered gem. Professional restoration has addressed chips in the borders. Very Fine- on Linen.
