From days when Charlie Chaplin first shot to his legendary popularity, this stone litho stock poster by Auguste Leymarie is making its first presentation at Heritage. Although he was well versed in oil painting and created several other commercial advertisements, Leymarie is by far most remembered for his series of Charlie Chaplin stock poster illustrations commissioned by Agence General Cinematographique and Everest Films. The poster has had some restoration to fold wear and separation, tears into the interior, and chipping. Unaddressed indications of use include toning and staining.
