    Description

    Camping Out (Paramount, 1919). One Sheet (27" X 41").
This is a one sheet from the inimitable comedian Fatty Arbuckle, produced in 1919, at the very height of his popularity which was second only to Chaplin. Arbuckle had left the Keystone company in 1917 to produce his own films and now had complete control over their production. The image and the situation here are pure Arbuckle. His bewildered naive hayseed persona looks at a goat that has wandered onto the breakfast table and is lapping up his milk. It's a simple, but extremely effective tableau, totally befitting the best of the silent era, when a picture was indeed, worth many words. Arbuckle remains an important figure of the silent era, and paper featuring this legendary comedian is ardently sought by his many fans. It had pieces missing from the top right, and bottom left and right borders, none of which extended into the image, as well as a tear in the right center of the poster, but expert professional restoration has addressed all these issues, returning the poster to a like-new state. Don't miss this opportunity to own this rare and gorgeous stone litho poster from the early days of comedy cinema. Very Good- on Linen.
