    Description

A Night in Casablanca (Union Films, 1950). Italian 4 - Fogli (55" X 75.5") Enrico de Seta Artwork.
"Play it again, Sam." Though never said in Casablanca, the line did show up in this spoof of the Bogart and Bergman Oscar winner...And how the Marx Brothers did play it! This last true Marx Brothers film has Groucho taking over as manager of the Hotel Casablanca, a hotbed of Nazi spies and femme fatales. With the help of brothers Chico and Harpo, he foils the spies and recovers their stolen booty. The somewhat fanciful story goes that Groucho responded to a threatened lawsuit by Warner Brothers concerning the title by sending a letter challenging the right of the Warners to use "Brothers" in their name. "Professionally, we were brothers before they ever were." Just like Groucho, even if it was a publicity stunt! This great image by Enrico de Seta has had noticeable touchup to the folds, though chipping and tears in the folds in the top panel are still apparent. Still visible are pinholes in the corners, chips in the top and right borders, a tape stain in the bottom border, and tax stamps in the background. The linen has been trimmed to the borders and slightly into the poster on the right side. There is some separation of the panels at the joint. Fine on Linen.
