Description

    Cleopatra (Paramount, 1934). One Sheet (27" X 41") Style B.
Never before offered by Heritage, we are proud to present a rare style B one sheet from one of the most decadent and memorable dramas of the 1930s. Holding true to form, sweeping scenery and lavish costumes abound in this Cecil B. DeMille historical epic, recounting the legend of Egypt's most famous and ambitious ruler. With a performance composed of equal parts poise and seduction, Claudette Colbert portrays a woman who effortlessly twists the world's most powerful men around her little finger, much in the same way as she seeks to turn the fates of entire empires to her favor. An instant success at its release, this wondrously extravagant picture earned an Academy Award for its stunning cinematography and a nomination for Outstanding Production, among several others. Beautifully restored, this lovely stone litho one sheet has had touchup applied to the folds, pinholes in the background, a slight tear in the upper background, a nick in the upper border, a small chip in the lower border with a soft scuff, and a minor hole in the "M" of "DeMille." There is a tear from the lower vertical fold into the bottom border, a vertical tear from the left border into the background, a small tear in Colbert's cheek, and a horizontal tear in "DeMille." Undoubtedly, this gloriously vibrant poster would be fantastic addition to any cinematic collection. Very Fine- on Linen.
