DescriptionCleopatra (Fox, 1917). Very Fine+. CGC Graded Lobby Card (11" X 14").
Known as Hollywood's first superstar and sex symbol, Theda Bara rose to almost immediate fame after her first leading role in the 1915 drama A Fool There Was. Studio execs heavily capitalized on her salacious success in that film. There she gained her sexy "vamp" image as a woman who could destroy men's souls with little more than a glance. Living up to her seductive persona, this beautiful original lobby features an exquisite image of Bara in one of her titillatingly risque costumes, many of which were entirely omitted from Cleopatra once the reels were sent to local censorship boards. We have never sold this wonderful early card before. CGC had graded it an excellent 8.5, which translates to a Very Fine+, yet the card does have a pinholes in all four corners. Very Fine+.
Estimate: $800 - $1,600.
