    Description

    Circus Poster (Hagenbeck Wallace & 4 Paw-Sells Bros, 1935). Poster (28.25" X 41"). Miscellaneous.
This wonderful poster for the 1935 season of the Hagenbeck Wallace & 4 Paw-Sells Bros Combined Circus features a fantastic image of circus trainer Maria Rasputin, the daughter of Russia's "Mad Monk", Gregory Rasputin, most notable for his strange, powerful influence over Tsar Nicholas II and the Romanov family. After being imprisoned for a time during the Russian Revolution, Maria escaped and fled to France where she started her career as a circus trainer. Publicity from the time claims that she could control animals with her eyes. An average restored poster that may have tears, paper loss, and general age wear, as well as brittleness, insect damage, some color fading, stains, tape, or tape stains. It may be in need of restoration, or may, in fact, have significant restoration. Grades on all restored items are pre-restoration grades; Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. Lovely stone litho artwork. Good+ on Linen.
