    Description

    Cimarron (RKO, 1931). Insert (14" X 36").
The first Western to win the Best Picture Oscar (and for almost sixty years, the only one), Richard Dix and Irene Dunne star under director Wesley Ruggles in this tale set in the midst of the Oklahoma land rush. Released during the worst of the Depression, the film was perhaps the only Best Picture winner to lose money on its first release. You will find this title on almost every "Best Picture" poster want list that exists amongst collectors, and with good reason. The artwork by Frederic C. Madan carries as much drama across the poster as the film did on the screen. Professional restoration has addressed pinholes in the corner and background, a misfold at the upper fold, tears at the lower fold in the title, a tear from the right border through Irene Dunne's image into the background, and touchup applied to the folds. There is some smudging and mild color fading still visible. Fine+ on Paper.
