    Description

CBS Television Lot (CBS, 1959). Very Fine on Linen. Television Posters (7) (Approx. 30" X 45") Joe Kaufman Artwork.
The late 1950s were a lucrative time for CBS, who became the dominating competitor for prime time television viewings. Of the top ten prime time shows in 1959-1960, CBS held seven of the slots with such iconic programs like I Love Lucy, Father Knows Best, The Danny Thomas Show, The Red Skelton Show, Perry Mason, Wanted: Dead or Alive, Have Gun -- Will Travel, and Gunsmoke. These posters show the schedules for all of CBS's programs, divided between the genres Reporters, Drama, Variety, Westerns, Comedy, Suspense, and Daytime. Each one of these pieces bears an illustration by Joe Kaufman, and have such general indications of usage like light edge wear, slight creases, pinholes, small tears. The posters also showed faint stains and smudges, light paper lifts, and a few very minor chips, thin scuffs and scratches. These issues are spread between the seven posters, with some of the pieces showing practically no issues whatsoever. The Variety and Suspense posters have had some of the previously mentioned issues partially addressed with light touchup. A few of the posters have a light warp to the linen. Very Fine on Linen.
