DescriptionCat on a Hot Tin Roof (MGM, 1958). Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41"). Reynold Brown Artwork.
"Southern Belle" doesn't equal shrinking violet, as Elizabeth Taylor proves as "Maggie the Cat" in this superb adaptation of Tennessee Williams' play. Taylor must scratch and scrape her way to survive amongst the turmoil of the egregious family of her husband (Paul Newman). The outstanding cast also includes Burl Ives, Jack Carson, and Judith Anderson. Legendary poster artist Reynold Brown is well known for his monster illustrations, but here he captures the beautiful Maggie, seemingly innocent in white, except for the sharp, red "claws!" There has been restoration to fold wear and separations, moderate border tears, and scattered pinholes. There were small chips in the borders and folds, and there was some paper loss at the top of the vertical fold. The poster had creases along the borders and a horizontal crease under the credits where it had been folded back. Fine on Linen.
Estimate: $400 - $800.
