Description

Casino de Paris (c. 1895). Ballet-Pantomime Poster (22" X 30") "Voyage de Mme. La Presidente," Georges Redon Artwork.
The Casino de Paris has a long history in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, with the first building in the location being built by the Duc de Richelieu in 1730. It became the Jardin de Tivoli, then the Palace Theatre before turning into the more modern Casino around the turn of the Twentieth Century. This presentation of Voyage was a showcase for the singer and actress Mistinguett and the well-known mime, Angele Heraud. The poster has touchup on the folds with some tears and small chips, two chips in the bottom right border, a bump in the upper left corner, and a reattached lower right corner. There are two stamps on the image area, one on her shoulder and one in the red background. Beautiful artwork by Georges Redon. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.

    Estimate: $500 - $1,000.
