    Description

Captain America (Republic, 1944). One Sheet (27" X 41") Chapter 1 -- "The Purple Death."
One sheets for this fun Republic serial based loosely on the comic book Captain America have always been impossible to find, let alone Chapter 1. This would be the last Republic serial made about a superhero and even frugal Republic shelled out more money for this series than any other. There was fun galore in these weekly installments as the villain, The Scarab, tries to acquire the "Dynamic Vibrator" (for destroying buildings with sound waves), the "Electronic Firebolt", and other devices he could use as super-weapons. In this full color one sheet, Captain America rescues Lorna Gray from the "Purple Death," a chemical that hypnotizes people and makes them commit suicide! Will he be in time?...will the lovely maiden be saved??...buy the poster and find out! Professional restoration has addressed fold wear, tears into the interior, and chipping in the borders and folds. There are a few minor pinholes in the interior that have touchup and the borders have been partially airbrushed. Fine on Linen.
