    Description

    Buck Privates (Universal, 1941). Lobby Card Set of 8 (11" X 14").
Bud Abbott and Lou Costello became the leading comedy team in the U.S. after Buck Privates was released. With some of the team's best material, and the addition of the Andrews Sisters singing "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," the film solidified their fame and adoration for generations. Offered here is an exceedingly rare original release lobby card set, including the "onion peeling" scene card with Abbott and Costello about to be clocked with a rolling pin by Shemp Howard (of Three Stooges fame). The set shows minor flaws such as the title card has pinholes in the top border, one enlarged pinhole in the bottom border, slight paper loss along the right border, the left and right borders have a fold, a crease in the bottom border, and a bottom left corner bend. All scene cards have pinholes, one has small tears in the bottom border, three have a light smudge and scuff along the right bottom border, one with a dust shadow and light stain in the bottom right, and one with minor surface paper loss and dust shadow in three borders. These minor imperfections could be easily addressed with restoration, making this seldom offered set an incredible find. Fine+.
