    Description

Bringing Up Baby (RKO, 1938). Title Lobby Card (11" X 14"). In what is now considered one of the classics of the screwball comedy genre, Cary Grant plays Dr. David Huxley, a bookish paleontologist trying to finish a dinosaur exhibition, and Katharine Hepburn plays Susan Vance, a flighty heiress with a pet leopard ("Baby" of the title). When the two get together, it's trouble all around. Although considered an unquestioned classic today, its failure at the box office upon release drove Hepburn back to Broadway and resulted in director Howard Hawks's firing from his next RKO picture. Both artists would have their revenge: Hepburn made a triumphant return to the screen several years later in The Philadelphia Story (1940) and Hawks would go on to direct Sergeant York in 1941, for which he received an Oscar nomination. The wonderful title card offered here has pinholes in the borders and corners, small edge tears and a chip in the top left. Aside from these minor flaws, this is an extremely attractive card that presents beautifully. Fine/Very Fine.
