Brighton at the Olympia (c. 1894). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. French Half Grande (30" X 48.5") Jean "Pal" de Paleologue Artwork.
The Olympia was opened in 1888 by the co-creators of the Moulin Rouge venue, and saw many music hall performances. For a long time Olympia Hall gave refuge to the creatives who were driven to the city as part of the Bohemian movement earlier in the 1800s, and is still considered the greatest concert venue in Paris. This early poster depicts dancing girls by artist Jean "Pal" de Paleologue and is a magnificent image. Professionally conserved, this poster no longer shows tears into the interior, creasing, a few chips at the edges, as well as light fold wear. The borders and yellow background have been airbrushed. There is an ink tax stamp in the upper text.

    Estimate: $600 - $1,200.
