    Brief Encounter (Universal International, 1946). One Sheet (27" X 41") and Lobby Card Set of 8 (11" X 14").
This fantastic lot includes an original U.S. release one sheet and lobby card set inspired by David Lean's beautifully rendered star-crossed lovers' tale. The two main characters are shown meeting for the first time on the platform of the Carnforth railway station in Lancashire, belying their later turmoil. Audiences in the U.S. were so moved by Celia Johnson's heart-felt performance, that she was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar. In the U.K., the picture was named #2 on the top 100 British Film list. The one sheet has pinholes in the borders, edge wear, fold wear, and cross fold separation. The title card has smudging in the top left corner, edge wear, a tear in the right border, and staple holes in the borders. Scene cards show small tears in the borders with tape on the verso, corner bends, and a chipped corner. A great find for lovers of cinema history...don't miss it! Fine/Very Fine.
