Description

    Boris Karloff (1930s). Autographed Portrait Photo (5" X 7") & Photo (8" X 10").
Vintage gelatin silver, single and double weight, glossy and matte photos. The horror genre would not be as wildly popular as it is today had it not been for the frightening contributions of the likes of Boris Karloff. The English actor is primarily remembered for his hair-raising portrayals of Frankenstein's monster in the Universal classics, Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, and Son of Frankenstein, and Imhotep in The Mummy. He would also star with fellow horror icon Bela Lugosi in several productions, including The Black Cat, The Raven, and Black Friday. Other memorable performances from Karloff include his roles in Howard Hawks' Scarface, and the animated television version of the Dr. Seuss classic, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Offered is an excellent portrait photo of the actor that has been signed, "Sincerely, Boris Karloff." Included is a photo from the 1942 re-issue of Karloff's The Walking Dead. The autographed photo shows a small tear in the left border, minor surface loss in the upper left border, a crease to the left of Karloff, corner bumps, and a bend in the lower right corner. The other photo shows bends in the right corners, a small tear in the lower border, and minor creasing. Fine/Very Fine.
