DescriptionBella Donna (c. 1923). Fine- on Paper. Russian Poster (34.5" X 48.5"). Alexander Naumov Artwork.
This Russian avant garde poster features fantastic art of actress Pola Negri. Based on a story by Robert Hitchens, it tells the story of a woman driven to murder who ends up wandering the deserts of Egypt. The artwork was done by Alexander Ilyich Naumov (1899-1928), a Russian painter, interior designer, book designer and poster artist. After the Russian Revolution, he was one of the main founders of the Society of Young Artists. He designed posters for a number of films including The Man on the Comet (1927). Touchup on this first time offer from Heritage has been applied to various signs of usage, including edge wear, fold separations, pinholes, and creasing. There were several tears into the interior and small chips at the borders. Some of these issues are partially addressed and are still visible, as are unobtrusive stains and mild toning.
Estimate: $6,000 - $12,000.
