DescriptionBelieve It or Not - No. 2 (Vitaphone, 1930). Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
Robert Ripley created a cartoon panel in the 1920s that became a world wide sensation, appearing in thousands of newspapers. Depicting the strange, the curious, the unusual and the bizarre - and according to him - true stories - Believe It or Not! It became so popular that Vitaphone, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Pictures, made a series of shorts with Ripley traveling around the world, exploring and lecturing to audiences about the subject. Here, offered for the first time at Heritage, is a poster from one of the earliest of the series. The poster, prior to restoration, had fold wear with small chips, light edge wear with small tears, ink bleedthrough on the left border, a bottom right corner bend, and pinholes in the corners. There has been some touchup to the borders.
Estimate: $2,000 - $4,000.
