DescriptionAt the Circus (MGM, 1939). French Grande (47" X 62.75") Jean Une Poissonnie Artwork.
The Groucho Marx rendition of the classic tune, "Lydia, the Tattooed Lady" is the highlight of this Marx Brothers comedy, in which the brothers save a mortgaged circus by convincing a Newport socialite to buy it for one show only. The film also co-stars Margaret Dumont and Eve Arden. Featuring artwork by Jean Une Poissonnie, this is a wonderful depiction of the Marx Brothers in one of their most famous MGM films. Prior to restoration, the poster had fold wear and separations, pinholes, and chipping and paper loss in the borders and folds. There was also some paper loss in Margaret Dumont's credit, and there was an uneven .25" to 1" trim along the right border. The borders and parts of the white background have been airbrushed. Fine on Linen.
Estimate: $800 - $1,600.
