DescriptionAnna Christie (MGM, 1931). Swedish One Sheet (27.5" X 39.5").
MGM mounted a massive ad campaign to promote this, the very first sound film to star silent film siren Greta Garbo, with the legendary ad line, "Garbo talks!" Based on the play by Eugene O'Neill (and filmed once before in 1923), Anna Christie tells of a young woman trying to hide her past (prostitution) from her newly-found father (George F. Marion), as well as the charming Irish sailor (Charles Bickford) who has stolen her heart. We have only once before sold a Swedish one sheet for this historic picture, but never before have we sold an example of this beautiful style. With a lovely stone litho image of Garbo and Marion, this Heritage first shows some edge wear with creasing and small tears. There is also a horizontal crease from the right border into the right background. Folded, Very Fine-.
Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
