    Description

Trader Mickey (United Artists, 1932). One Sheet (28" X 41").
In the summer of 1932, Walt Disney changed distributors of his cartoon shorts from Columbia Studios to the United Artists Studios, who were willing to advance more money in the production of his films. What a fortunate event this was for poster collectors! While the Columbia posters were two color, the UA posters were vibrant, multi-hued, and created in the stone lithograph process. This extraordinarily rare one sheet from the short Trader Mickey features the world's most beloved mouse and Pluto traveling up an African river with a cargo of goods. Their treasures include several musical instruments that come in quite handy when they encounter bloodthirsty cannibals! Mickey made his first appearance in 1928's Plane Crazy, and went on to become the symbol of Disney animation recognized around the world. Trader Mickey remains one of his most admired cartoons (playing on the popularity of 1931's Trader Horn) with posters that are extremely collectible and some of the most difficult to find. A new item for Heritage, this prized piece from the animation genre will be the star of one lucky bidder's collection! There has been careful restoration to address missing paper in the bottom hippo's face, touchup applied to the faces of Mickey and Pluto and a 2" X 3" hole in the "U" and "S" of "MOUSE." There has been airbrush work in the upper portion/title area. Liberal airbrushing was applied to the bottom section. All of the borders were trimmed at least 1/2" inch and in some areas the missing paper extends into the background, but has been replaced and touchup applied with excellent results. Very Good/Fine on Linen.
