Description
The Wayward Canary (United Artists, 1932). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (28.25" X 41").A prime example of early Walt Disney excellence, it has been over ten years since Heritage has had the pleasure of offering this charming one sheet for The Wayward Canary. Featuring two of animation's most famous characters of all time, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, this poster depicts the duo in an exuberant musical exchange as a frenetic canary flies just over their heads. Released the same year that Walt Disney received his special Oscar for the creation of Mickey, The Wayward Canary was one of the first shorts released by United Artists after their previous studio, Columbia, refused to raise the production budget over $13,500 per short. The move proved to be a prolific one as it ushered in the "Golden Age" of Mickey Mouse posters. A spectacular stone litho example, this one sheet for The Wayward Canary is incredibly rare, and Heritage has only ever offered it five times previously. Professional airbrushing along the borders and light touchup within the interior have brilliantly addressed edge and fold wear, pinholes, mostly small chips, and some tears. Property from a Distinguished Collection.
