    Description

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (RKO, 1937). One Sheet (27" X 41") Style B.
It's a near miracle this delightful classic ever left the drawing board, given that Walt Disney was openly disparaged when he announced his idea for producing a full length animated film. Fortunately for cinema fans the world over, Disney's instincts proved stronger than the naysayers, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs became an immediate success. In Technicolor splendor, the picture introduces audiences to the charm of angelic Snow White (voiced by Adriana Caselotti), who falls prey to the nasty queen (esteemed stage actress Lucille La Verne). Even more endearing, however, are the devoted seven dwarfs, who continue to win the hearts of audiences nearly eight decades later. All are splendidly rendered at the hands of artist Gustaf Tenggren on this one sheet, as they surround the serenely smiling Snow White. A must for Disney collectors, this one sheet had 2 1/2" of missing paper along the right side into the image, and up to 4" of missing paper at the upper right. There was 1" of missing paper along the lower border, and chipping and tearing throughout the background. There was a hole in the background clouds, a hole in the beard of the dwarf on the far left, and a chip in the pants of the dwarf next to him. The title area and white background have been airbrushed. Despite these issues, professional restoration has left the poster in a very presentable condition, primed for display. Fair/Good on Linen.
