Description

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (RKO, 1937). Insert (14" X 36").
It is almost unimaginable now to think Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was initially thought of as "Disney's Folly." This animated feature length film - the first ever produced in the United States - was an enormous risk for the studio. Although both his brother, Roy, and his wife, Lillian, tried to talk Walt out of undertaking this expensive project, the legendary creator believed in it so much that he actually mortgaged his home to finance it. The film spent three years in production, racking up a budget of more than $1.5 million, and revolutionized animation in the process. The result was a fantastic success, quickly becoming the highest-grossing feature ever at the time (it was supplanted in 1939 by Gone With the Wind). It remains today one of Disney's finest achievements, a perennial favorite for generations of fans. The beautiful insert offered here, featuring glorious art by Gustaf Tenggren, has been professionally restored to address fold wear, making this a find of a lifetime for one lucky poster collector! Fine/Very Fine on Paper.
