Description

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (RKO, 1937). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41") Style A.
During the production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, many in Hollywood mockingly referred to the project as "Disney's Folly," convinced that audiences would never sit through a full-length animated feature. Undeterred, Walt Disney went all in - so much so that he mortgaged his own home to help cover the ballooning budget, which soared from an estimated $250,000 to nearly $1.5 million. With enormous financial and personal risk on the line, Disney faced intense pressure. But when Snow White premiered in December 1937, it defied all expectations, becoming a box office sensation and earning over $8 million during its initial run, an extraordinary figure during the Great Depression. The film not only revolutionized animation but also became the highest-grossing sound film of its time, a title it held until Gone with the Wind took the crown. Backed to linen, touch-up has addressed splits and separations to the folds, internal tears and small chips. Some corners have had paper replacements to address chips and paper losses; there has been airbrushing to the borders and within the background areas as well as to some to the blue lettering of the title. Thanks to these efforts, the poster displays very well.
