    Description

Northwest Hounded Police (MGM, 1946). Tex Avery One Sheet (27.25" X 41").
Charming and very rare, this one sheet is from the cartoon short by madcap genius "Tex" Avery, and features Droopy trailing the escaped convict wolf. Northwest Hounded Police ranks 28th on the list of The 50 Greatest Cartoons, with only a handful of Avery cartoons ranking higher (Red Hot Riding Hood, for example, at #7). Avery started at Warner Brothers, directing some of the most manic of the early Bugs Bunny cartoons, then moved over to MGM to create such characters as Droopy and Screwy Squirrel. Known for his irreverent humor and slapstick style, Avery's cartoons have withstood the test of time to remain among the most popular ever made. The posters for his cartoons are as collectible as the shorts made by the Disney studios, but are often more scarce. A Heritage first, this one sheet has been mounted on paper and touchup applied to the folds to address small paper loss at the top two crossfolds and chipping in the top vertical fold, and there has been touchup applied for corner chips in the top corners and bottom left corner. It's unlikely this poster will surface again anytime soon, making it an extraordinary opportunity for dedicated collectors. Fine+ on Paper.
