Little Rural Riding Hood (MGM, 1949). Fine+ on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
Offered in this lot is a scarce one sheet for Little Rural Riding Hood, a loose retelling of the Aesop fable, "The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse," using one of Tex Avery's more risqué and arguably most popular creations that of the Wolf and Red. The sight gags are in full swing with both the country wolf and his downtown metropolitan counterpart cousin using over the top gag variations to represent their burning love for the Red character. The Red and Wolf characters were well represented in two other Avery shorts: Red Hot Riding Hood and Swing Shift Cinderella. The Red Hot Riding Hood cartoons became something of a sensation for MGM, who claimed that they were the most successful short subjects in the company's history. This particular cartoon was voted the 23rd greatest cartoon in a 1994 poll. Fans of Avery's over the top comedic stylings would enjoy having this hard to find one sheet in their collection! The linen backed one sheet shows restoration in the folds and border repair. In post restoration, there are small chips and surface paper loss in the borders, pinholes in the corners, and handling creases along the borders due to the linen being trimmed to the edge of the poster but not into the poster itself. The colors of the posters are still bright and vibrant and will display beautifully.
