    Description

How to Play Football (RKO, 1944). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 40.5").
Exceptionally rare, this highly collectible one sheet has made only one other appearance at Heritage over a decade ago. Disney's series of "How to" Goofy cartoons had been well established by 1944, but How to Play Football is considered by fans to be among the best in the series. Critics and audiences of the day agreed, with the cartoon gaining a nomination for the Best Animated Short Film at the 1944 Academy Awards. Serving as a masterful sports parody for college football, the animation team behind the picture managed to created a highly entertaining cartoon with the added challenge of using a single character for all of the players, coaches, referees, fans, and paramedics. Light touchup has addressed slight fold wear, pinholes, thin surface scuffs, and minor chips. The poster also had a few tears in the borders. Some of these issues may still be visible, as well as unaddressed faint stains and smudges. There appear to be slight trims in the upper and lower borders, but these come nowhere close to affecting the iconic image found on this poster.
