Gulliver's Travels (Paramount, 1939). Six Sheet (79" X 81").
After Walt Disney had a box office smash hit with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Paramount asked Fleischer Studios to come up with an equally successful full-length animated film, even going so far as building the animators a new studio in Miami, Florida. The result is this exquisite picture, based on Jonathan Swift's 1726 novel about the citizens of Lilliput Island and their encounter with the giant shipwrecked Gulliver. Some of the musical highlights include "All's Well," "It's a Hap-Hap-Happy Day," and "Faithful Forever." Although the film was successful, it was no match for Disney's features, and Paramount gave up the idea of competing with Disney. This beautiful poster is the only known example of the original six sheet for the film. The excellent restoration has made this rare poster display ready. There were tears and chipping throughout the poster. The borders and white background have been airbrushed and there was restoration to the bottom title box. Good- on Linen.
