Bambi (RKO, 1947). Very Fine- on Linen. Horizontal First Post-War Release French Double Grande (89.5" X 60.5"). C. Alexis Artwork.
Presented for the first time at Heritage, this captivating French double grande features artwork unlike any other paper for the film. This poster depicts the Young Prince in a much more melancholy scene, when compared to other jovial illustrations with friends Thumper and Flower. The large format also lends itself to giving the viewer the feeling of trepidation that Bambi sees a threat out of our view. For those who have seen the film, there is no doubt in which scene the artist chose to illustrate, the dramatic and impactful scene of Bambi's mother's death. Light touchup has been applied to slight fold wear, pinholes, a few tears, and small chips, some of which have splices. Some of these issues are still visible, as well as mild creasing. There is a bit of graphite writing in the lower right corner. As a first time offering and such unique design when compared to other posters for the film, this is an opportunity no collector should miss.
