    Description

The Theatre Collection: Drawings by William Auerbach-Levy (Museum of the City of New York, 1977). Posters (4) (22" X 27.75"). Miscellaneous.
This lot contains four posters from the Museum of the City of New York's exhibition of artist William Auerbach-Levy's collection of caricatures of personalities that spans a career of forty years. This lot includes Frank Sinatra (1942), Ethel Barrymore in The Constant Wife (1926), Ira and George Gershwin in Lady Be Good (1924), and Victor Borge in concert (1945). Restored posters with a clean overall appearance. They may have very minor signs of use, such as light edge wear, and very light creases. Although the posters are backed on linen, no restoration efforts have been made. The Frank Sinatra poster does not have the museum publication date in the lower border area, and cannot be verified that it is from the original 1977 publication. A poster graded Very Fine+ may still be on Linen, but this is the highest grade allowed for a poster in this state. Grades on all restored items are pre-restoration grades; Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. Very Fine+ on Linen.
