    Description

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in Alpine Antics (Universal, 1929). One Sheet (27" X 41").
In 1927, young Walt Disney created a new character for Universal, "Oswald the Lucky Rabbit," that bore a resemblance to his later creation, the iconic "Mickey Mouse." Shortly thereafter, Universal's George Winkler and Charles Mintz fired Disney. In 1929 the studio replaced Winkler and Mintz with Walter Lantz, and acquired the rights to Oswald the Rabbit. The series continued through 1938. Meanwhile, after Disney's departure from Universal, he began creating new characters, one of which became Mickey Mouse, and of course, the rest is history. This extremely rare one sheet, with its Mickey-esque version of Oswald, would make a perfect addition to any animation collection. Touchup was applied to the folds and surface paper loss at the bottom crossfold. Please note: Upon further inspection it has been determined that all the borders have been replaced. The grade has been changed to reflect this. Fine on Linen.
