Don's Fountain of Youth (RKO, 1953). One Sheet (27" X 41"). Three years after this cartoon short was made, Disney would stop producing the cartoons on which his empire was built. Donald had come up from a supporting character with his debut in 1935's "The Wise Little Hen" to become Disney's top character by 1940, surpassing Mickey Mouse in popularity. The star duck continued his reign through the forties and into the fifties with Mickey never regaining his top position. Though Mickey will always be Disney's star character, as it was the mouse that created the empire, Donald will always be Disney's most popular character. This lovely sheet pictures the duck in his classic sailor costume in two poses and is one of the better early fifties Donald posters. Very Fine+ on Linen.
