Disney Stills (Buena Vista, 1939). Stills (5) (8" X 10"). These five movie stills from 1938-1939 feature Donald Duck in his heyday. His daily newspaper cartoon strip had just been syndicated to over 200 newspapers, and he was about to surpass Mickey Mouse in the number of cartoons reaching theaters (a feat he achieved in 1941). Featured in more than 128 Disney cartoons, Donald's trademark "Aw, phooey!" line keeps audiences laughing at the hot-headed, temperamental duck to this day. Included in this lot are four color stills, and one black and white. The black and white is from "Hockey Champs," and it has some pinholes, corner creases, staple holes, and soiling. A color card from "Sea Scouts" has staple holes in the edges, edge wear and some soiling. Two color stills from "Donald's Penguin" have staple holes with rust staining in the margins, and some soiling. In one of them, Donald has a bit of ring around the color, where some blue from his sailor suit has bled slightly. A color still from "Donald Duck's Golf Game" has edge tears, pinholes, a scratch across the image area, and some soiling. All five stills have some wrinkling from storage. Colorful, early Donald Duck stills are sure to get an "Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!" from Donald's fans. Very Good/Fine.
