Alice Gets in Dutch (Winkler, 1924). One Sheet (27" X 41").
An exciting opportunity for animation fans, Heritage has the pleasure to present an original poster from Walt Disney's earliest days in animation. Disney had only just learned his trade at Laugh-O-Gram studios when he began his Alice Comedies series in 1921, one of the first cartoons to combine live action footage with cartoon animation. Originally starring Virginia Davis as the precocious heroine, Disney's new series had a successful four year run with a grand total of 57 short films. It was here that Walt Disney honed his new talent, improving the complexity, movement, and timing of his cartoons with each new installment. This would serve him very well with the creation of his next two projects, the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit series and Walt's most beloved character, Mickey Mouse. Beautifully restored, this rare poster has had touchup to the folds, pinholes in the corners, and mild tears and chips in the borders. A few tears extend into the background. The interior has had some color enhancement, and all of the borders and the white areas in the interior have been airbrushed. All the posters from the Disney Alice cartoon series are very scarce and rarely turn up for auction. Fine+ on Linen.
