DescriptionAir France - Extreme Orient (1946). Rolled, Fine/Very Fine. Poster (24" X 39.5") Lucien Boucher Artwork.
Just after WWII, on 29 December 1945, a decree of the French Government granted Air France the management of the entire French air transport network. They began a very forward thinking advertising approach which included hiring Lucien Boucher (1889-1971), a French graphic designer and illustrator who became known for his many beautiful Air France travel posters. Boucher's unique mid-century painting style combines his Art Deco influence and traditional painting to offer a fresh look for advertising. His body of work for Air France is well regarded by collectors as a leader in the mid-century style. The poster still retains its varnish finish giving it a glossy and lovely patina. The poster has some edge wear and pinholes visible. Some minor interior wear and wrinkling.
Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
